Supply
Chain in Development Sector
A lot of social
organization working in Nepal and they have different goal and working in
different sector to develop and support in Nepal and Nepalese people. They are
buying different types of programme related goods. Buts it's very hard to find
the goods in time because of small market and limited suppliers. There is a lot
of change of monopoly and in Nepal here is not a lot market to compare the
price and quality. In this situation main challenges is to provide the quality
goods in time with best value.
Procurement, warehousing,
transportation, Distribution are main key of Supply chain.Another factor is
every donor has own policy and requirement and sometimes it's difficult to
cover the policy with limited suppliers and limited market. In Nepal we have
geographical difficulties, no easy excess road, not available transportation,
etc. And by this reason many organization not able to support at the time of
crises.
In Nepal not
enough international standard warehouse to store the goods in good condition
for the period. Sometimes a lot of items damage by the rain, rat bite, stolen
and other reason. For the disaster response many organization have preposition
plan but only centralize warehouse so some organization are failed to response
in time at the time of disaster. Few organization are failed to fulfil the commitment
with community because of many difficulties in supply chain.
Many organization
are unable to send the goods to beneficiary because of poor transportation, Sometime
organization paying high transportation charge. And it's hit to timely
distribution plan also.
To minimize the
supply chain risk in future organization should be make strong strategic plan
to deliver the quality goods in time to save the people.
